Differentiating Between Your Donors
When people give different amounts of money for a project or memorial, etc., it is often left up to the organization to figure out an appropriate way to recognize everyone and still differentiate according to amount of donation.
If you’ve never done this before, and don’t know where to start, consider this a template for a potential system you can use.
Donors who make cumulative gifts of $xx,xxx or more are considered “Major Contributors” and are recognized with permanent individual wall plaques which are prominently displayed in a public area.
Donors who make cumulative gifts totaling $x,xxx to $x,xxx are listed jointly as “Benefactors” on a permanent wall plaque which is prominently displayed in a public area of the library.
ROLL OF HONOR
Donors who make cumulative gifts of $xxx or more during a given year are listed jointly on a yearly “Roll of Honor” wall plaque which is prominently displayed in a public area until it is replaced by the subsequent year’s plaque and removed to another location for long term display.
ALL THOSE IN WHOSE HONOR OR MEMORY
Gifts are made during a given calendar year are listed on yearly wall plaques which are prominently displayed in a public area until they are replaced by a subsequent year’s plaques and removed to another location for long term display.
